Birdwatching in Kilshanroe
All of the children are observing birds this term. We have bird identification charts on the windows, as well as a tally chart in the older children’s classrooms. We have spotted lots of different types of birds so far, and are keen to attract the birds we have not seen. Many thanks to the parents and guardians who have donated bird food and birdhouses.
Some of the children went to great trouble to paint and decorate birdhouses – Gavin made this one himself and Ava’s is beautifully decorated
Many thanks to the parents and guardians who sent in bird seed, suet balls, feeders and even binoculars! Below is a wonderful book of nature poetry for children.
School polytunnel makeover!
Over the Christmas holidays, the VanStaden family kindly painted our poly tunnel. It is now a beautiful multicoloured structure and a very welcome addition to our fabulous garden. We will grow tomatoes and other Mediterranean herbs and vegetables in it, later in the year. A huge thanks to Henric, Jordan, Kayla and Ruby for their help.
Christmas decoration workshop
The children from 1st to 6th class took part in a Christmas decoration making workshop with Ms Parle. We have hung some of them on our Christmas tree already. We used recycled materials to make them and it was great fun!
Halloween at Scoil San Treasa
The children all made a huge effort with their Hallowe’en costumes and many thanks to the parents for all of their help. In particular, well done to the children who re-used materials to make their costumes.
We had our whole school assembly which was great because we got to see everyone’s costumes. The Junior Infants performed a fantastic song.
