Autumn term 2019
We created abstract paintings on tiles, using sharpies and rubbing alcohol. We loved this project because the end result was very interesting looking.
We created resistance paintings using watercolour paints and plastic cement.
We made a landscape picture of Beech trees in Autumn using sponges, paint, newspaper, recycled material and plastic.
We are making a collage picture of Silver Birch trees in Autumn. We are using recycled newspaper, fabric and paper. We painted the background using a variety of printing techniques.
We used a variety of natural materials (turmeric, grapes, rosemary, cabbage, vinegar and baking soda) to make vegetable dyes. It was VERY smelly but great fun!
Summer term 2019
Art club is always about experimentation where the children are given a chance to explore a wider range of materials. We know it is important to get things wrong! Some of the best art has been created through making mistakes.
We made exploding crayon art! We made silhouette portraits and melted crayons using the hairdryer to give the rainbow effect.
We made Picasso style masks, using recycled cardboard, acrylic paint and recycled plastic material.
We made simple weaving boards and marked out geometric patterns using coloured thread.
We scrunched then opened up pieces of recyclable paper, drew on the lines that were created from that, then coloured it in to make ‘broken glass’ designs.
As it is the end of term, we are using scrap paper to make interesting works of art! Many thanks to the children from Maths Academy who helped to construct the spirals using protractors.
Winter term 2018
We have been doing lots of fun things in art club this term. First, we made a self portrait using lots of different media: photography oil pastels, oil, ICT, cut out shapes and markers.
We made abstract drawings using oil pastels, washi tape, gold pens and cut out shapes.
We used salt and and water colour paints to create these unusual pictures. We had a lot of fun making them and noticed that the colours blended easily by using the salt.
We helped to create a large scale weaving project. It will eventually become a landscape, made entirely out of recycled materials.
We made valentine cards using a technique called quilling. It required a lot of patience and control but it was worth it in the end!
Today we had our final exhibition to display all of the work that we have created in Art club. We used large pieces of cardboard to create structural walls, on which we could hang our Artwork. Lots of parents came to see our work. Many thanks to you all for supporting art club.
